In this project we picked a partner we wanted to work with. After choosing a partner you picked a topic that had to do with Japan. My partner and I chose ikebana. Which is the art of flower arrangement. We were gave two weeks to make a final production to show our understanding of the topic. What my partner and I did was a painting. Went through two different drafts till be had a final product. After we finished our painting we had to present it. We did that by making a powerpoint. On our powerpoint we explain what ikebana is. We went in to complete depth on the topic. The way we were graded on this project was by our presentation skills. It had to be a minimum of two minutes long. During the whole presentation you were graded on the filler words used. (So, Like, And, But etc.) This helps us as students by learning the rules to public speaking. We were also graded on our four C's. Content, Composer, Clarity and Compassion. After finishing everyone presentation we were given a test on different Japanese topics. The importance of learning all of these speaking skills IS great. But, the main thing I took away from this project was the Japanese culture. I learned that they do many things till it is perfect. The take the quote "practice makes perfect" to anther level. People there spend a lot of time learning from their mistakes. After completing this project I now spend lots of time on my work. Whether is an exhibition or a small quest. I want to achieve revising my work. Getting a lot of critique to make it better. I am hoping to go into every assigned piece of school work with this attitude. |
